All classes are conditional to sufficient enrolment and are subject to cancellation or transfer to an alternate location. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until classes are full. Courses will not be confirmed. You will be contacted by Continuing Education only if the course is cancelled.

REGISTRATION & ADMISSION:

 

Pre-Registration:

Day school students currently attending a high school must be recommended for enrolment in summer school by their day school principal (or designate) and can pre-register through their Student Services or Guidance Department from May 1 until June 21.

 

Adults can pre-register at the Continuing Education Department at 570 West Hunt Club Road, from May 1 until June 21, provided they have proof, transcript or report card, of the prerequisite course. Adults who do not have transcripts or attended a non-Ontario High School will have to call 613-723-7757 prior to registering.

 

International and out-of-province students must contact the Summer School office at 613-723-7757 for information on fees for summer school.

 

Registration:

After June 21, registration will take place at all 4 summer school locations on July 2nd from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm

As of 2:00 pm July 2 registration is closed.

 

Confirmation of Registration:

Courses will not be confirmed. Students will be contacted only if a course is cancelled due to insufficient enrolment.

EXAMS:

Please note that our summer school schedule will not be modified to accommodate personal summer plans. Final exams are compulsory and MUST be written on Tuesday, July 23. Final marks will be handed out in class on Wednesday, July 24, and this is the ONLY opportunity for students to discuss their final exams and marks with their teacher.

 

REACH-AHEAD CREDIT COURSES

Grades 9-12, courses run from July 3 – July 24, 2013. This is a full-day program with courses running daily from 8:30 am – 4:00 pm with a half-hour lunch. These courses enable students to obtain a full credit towards their diploma in a subject that was not previously taken. Students can only enroll for one Reach Ahead course.

MAKE-UP CREDIT COURSES

Grades 9-12, courses run from July 3 – July 24, 2013. This is a half-day program with courses running daily from either 8:30 am – 12:00 pm OR 12:30 pm – 4:00 pm. These courses enable students who have not been successful during the regular school year to obtain one full credit by repeating 55 hours of instruction. Students wishing to improve a passing mark may also take these courses. Each class is scheduled for approximately 3 hours daily in either the morning or the afternoon, thus enabling the student to enroll in one or two Make-Up courses. Students must have completed the course and have written the final exam. Students should have a minimum final mark of 35% for Grades 9, 10, & 11 courses. A minimum final mark of 45% is required in order to make-up Grade 12 level courses.

NUMERACY/LITERACY COURSES

(10-day program running July 8-19 inclusive)

For students currently in Grade 6, 7, or 8. These courses are designed to enhance the English and Mathematics skills of students who are presently achieving at level 2 or lower, and are at risk of not meeting standards required for successful completion of the new curriculum. Students receive encouragement, gain confidence and learn how to improve study and organizational skills required at the Grade 7, 8, or 9 levels. Students in this program will receive a complimentary bus pass if required. This is a full-day program with courses running daily from 8:30 am – 4:00 pm with a half-hour lunch. There are no consumable or transportation fees for this program.
