We are a MTO Ministry-Approved BDE Course Provider. Our Program combines in-class, at-home and in-car instruction in preparation for the Ontario G2 Driver’s Test. Successful completion of this program allows a reduction of the G1 license driving period and a possible insurance discount (check with your insurance company).
Program is run in conjunction with D.T.S.M. Driving School.
Eligibility:
Open to all secondary school students in the Ottawa-Carleton Region. Students must be at least 16 years of age and have a G1 license prior to July 2, 2013.
Program:
Program consists of:
- 20 hours classroom instruction
July 2 – July 5 inclusive
9:00 am – 3:00 pm daily
(includes ½ hour lunch & two 15 minute breaks)
- 39 hours of group in-car instruction – 13 hours behind-the-
wheel and 26 hours of observation (based on groups of 3
students in the car).
- 7 hours at home assignments
Group in-car sessions take place throughout July & August. Students must be available ALL of July and August in order to complete the required hours in a group lesson format. In-car sessions are scheduled anytime during the day, evening up until 10pm or Saturdays from 8:30 am – 5:30 pm and this schedule is determined between the 3 students in the group and the instructor. The Driving School will accommodate scheduling for students working summer jobs ONLY.
The Driving School will try to accommodate all in-car sessions starting and ending at the student’s home school if there is sufficient registration. If not, the in-car sessions will start and end at the selected in-class school location.

Registration:
Registration for the Summer 2013 Driver Education Program runs from May 1 – June 21, 2013. All registrations must be received by the Continuing Education Office by that date. Class size is limited; acceptance in on a first-come basis. Fee:
Total fee is $711.90 ($630 + HST).
May be paid in 2 equal instalments of $355.95.
First instalment is payable at the time of registration. Second instalment will be processed automatically to your credit card one month after the first payment. If paying be cheque, post-date the second cheque one month from the first instalment and remit both cheques at the time of registration.
PLEASE NOTE:
1. Students must bring a copy (front and back) of their G1 license to the first class, plus a copy of the MTO Driver's Handbook.
2. On completion of the program, there will be a fee of approximately $12 + HST payable to the Ministry of Transportation in order to process documentation for insurance purposes. Instructions will be made available by the driving school in the form of a student handbook.
Cancellation Policy: The Ottawa Catholic School Board reserves the right to cancel a program due to lack of registration. If a program is cancelled, the student will be notified by phone. The student may cancel their registration before June 21, 2013, a refund minus a $15 admin fee will be issued. After June 21 refunds will NOT be issued.

SUMMER PROGRAM:
NOTE: The summer program operates quite differently than the school year program. In-class sessions run for 1-week, full day and then in-car sessions run throughout July & August. Students must be available all of July & August in order to complete the in-car hours in a group-lesson format. In-class locations are only offered at approximately 5 school sites however in-car pick-up and drop-off may be at the students’ home school provided there is sufficient enrolment. In-class sessions typically run the first week in July.
Registration starts at the beginning of May. High school guidance offices receive the flyers at that time & the information will be posted on this page.
